Franco Poli born in Padova in 1950. As he finished his studies in Venice (Art school, I.U.A.V. and International University of Art) he’s been devoting himself professionally to the design since 1974 working in Florence, Venice and Verona. For three decades he’s been distinguishing himself in the Italian design for his curiosity and talent in the drawing and his restless and personal attitude, qualities that took him to the collaboration with a great number of firms (most of all in furniture), trying to combine theory, aesthetics and technique of design and create lasting products bearer of an unmistakable Italian mark. Great defender of the originality and the independence of the Italian design, he founded in the 90ies the A.D. Veneto and Camera Italiana del Disegno associations, taking actively part to the National Council of Design Associations (C.N.A.D.) in Rome. Professor of Design at the historic Academy of Art in Venice till 1996, visiting professor at the polytechnic of Milan and at the U.I.A. of Florence. Among his innumerable publications, prizes and exhibitions in Italy and in the world stands out the acquisition of the extremely light chair “Flying” by “The Denver Art Museum” (Denver, Colorado), and the recent acquisition of the bookcase Boogie Woogie by the “Fonds National d’Art Contemporaine” of Paris. Now he works together with: Tonon, Italcomma, Poltrona Frau, Arcade, Pizzitutti, Matteograssi and Bernini. Since 1998 he’s living and working in Verona. |
